How Does Laser Hair Removal Work on the Legs
The Advantages of Laser Hair Removal
You might be wondering why you should choose laser hair removal for your legs instead of relying on traditional shaving or IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments.

Optimal Hair Removal
First of all, this method targets and destroys the root of each hair individually. The Alexandrite laser emits a 755 nm wavelength, making it one of the safest and most precise lasers currently available on the market.
Techniques like shaving or depilatory cream do not act on the hair root, which leads to regrowth that varies depending on your skin type. With shaving, you’ll need to use a razor every 2 to 3 days. As for depilatory creams, they only provide one or two extra days of smooth skin.
Waxing removes the hair along with its root, but while effective, it’s painful and only leaves the skin smooth for 2 to 3 weeks. Moreover, the accumulated cost of salon visits makes it an expensive option (according to a Skincare study, a woman spends up to 24,000 CHF on waxing in her lifetime).
And what about IPL (intense pulsed light)? While it also targets the hair root, this method uses a range of light wavelengths, resulting in a less focused and less powerful treatment than laser — making it a temporary solution.
Optimal Results for Your Skin
Laser hair removal is also a safe technique. The precision of the laser beam allows our specialists to target only the hair follicle without damaging your skin — unlike IPL, which lacks such precision.
Say goodbye to redness and pain caused by waxing. At Epilia, in addition to precisely targeting each follicle, we use Zimmer technology, which acts as a local anesthetic thanks to its cooling effect.

What is the recommended age to begin laser leg hair removal?
Permanent laser hair removal can be performed on minors starting at the age of 15, provided that a parent gives consent and signs the required consent form. That parent must also be present at the free initial consultation.
However, we recommend waiting for hormonal stabilization before beginning laser treatment. Otherwise, the treatment may be more of a comfort solution than a permanent one.

Your Leg Laser Hair Removal Session at an Epilia Center
Important Guidelines Before Each Laser Hair Removal Session
During your first consultation, your laser specialist will provide all the necessary advice to ensure optimal results. However, this treatment is not recommended for pregnant women.
Your skin tone, as well as the thickness and melanin content of your hair, are key factors when using the Alexandrite laser. White, grey, very light blonde, or red hairs contain too little melanin and cannot be effectively targeted by the laser.
You should also avoid sun exposure on the treatment areas before your first session, as it may increase the risk of burns.
What to Expect During a Laser Hair Removal Session at Epilia
From the moment you arrive, we welcome you into a pleasant and comfortable environment.

All our laser specialists will be there to support you throughout your sessions. This ensures personalized and expert follow-up.
The duration of each session will vary depending on the area(s) being treated.
At every Epilia center, you only pay for the session you’ve just completed. You will never be asked to pay in advance.
This allows you to remain flexible with your appointments — and your budget.
Post-Laser Hair Removal Recommendations
You may notice some redness immediately after the treatment. Allow it to fade naturally. For the 3 days following your session, we recommend applying a soothing cream both morning and evening.

After a few weeks, some hair may reappear on your legs. This is part of a new growth phase. Fortunately, your next appointment will fall during this period. Over time, your legs will become smoother and clearer.
Don’t wait any longer. Book your appointment at an Epilia center. Our team of laser hair removal specialists is here to welcome you.
